Context
Remember Armando Testa's Pirelli Tire ads we talked about in The History of Graphic Design Course?
Armando Testa, poster for Pirelli, 1954
Armando Testa, ad for Pirelli, 2002 (Tagline “Power is nothing without control”)
Well, Pirelli has continued this approach in much of their advertising. Surrealism and convergence are used to create powerful images that convey something about the product. The copy is minimal because the visual concept communicates the message.
An updated series of ads from 2005 based on Testa’s concept for Pirelli.
Lowe Pirella Fronzoni advertising agency created this Noah’s Ark in 2011.
(Copy “Safe Transport Updated”)
GMASCO, Dubai, UAE created an ad for Toyo tires using a similar concept of transformation in 2008.
Preuss und Preuss, Berlin, Germany created this Advertisement for Kolner Zoo with a nice combination of type, image and concept.
